Kent Youth League
A low turn out for Cambridge Harriers was met with some success at the last Kent Youth League fixture at Norman Park last week.
Turning out for the U13 girls were, Eve Selaes, Heather Butcher, Jessica Lwin, Libby Harewood & Shiannetae Palmer, making up a depleted team due to the summer holidays.
Eve made a great debut, throwing 27m.55 in the javelin, moving her up to 9th on the uk rankings this year and throwing 12m.35 in her first discus competition.
Heather dominated the 1200m walk, lowering her PB by another 6 seconds and Jessica improved her PB in the 150m by .4 second.
In the 75m, Shiannetae came out on the wrong end of a blanket finish, with the first four being separated by just .1 second
Libby ran well to earn second in the 150m in 23.1 seconds.
In the U15, Daryll Neita comfortablywon the 200m in 25.1 second. While Sophie Parkes was first in the same event for the b string in 28.2 seconds, she won her more familiar event, 1500m in 4:53.1. Fiona Bashm won the B race in 5:15.9.
Renee Ross-Gordon was second in the 300m in 45.2 seconds.
Lucy Daniel impressed in the 75m hurdles, coming second with a PB of 16.2 seconds.
Elms completes busy competitive week
Following her three victories for Cambridge Harriers in the Southern Women's League, Clare Elms was back in action on the Monday when she won her 800m race in 2:17.29, just a second short of her PB in breezy conditions.
On Wednesday she travelled to Brighton, where she was third woman in her 1500m race but more importantly she improved her British W45 record and personal best to 4:31.87.
The following day she had her sixth race in six days and fifth win when she won her fifth Assembly League victory of the year in a relaxed 19:59 as
Mark Penny was the leading Cambridge Harrier in 12th in 18:58.
On Sunday, Clare represented Kent in the Southern Inter Counties at Ashford where despite strong gusting winds, she was second in the 3000m in a big PB of 9:49.95.
