Bolarwinra wins bronze in youth Olympics
Youth Olympic Games
Cambridge Harriers David Bolarinwa gained the bronze medal in the final of the 100m in the Youth Olympics in Singapore.
The British flag barer at the games was expected by many to win the gold as the fastest U18 in the world this year. However, after being the fastest qualifyer with a time of 10.62s, he would have to settle for bronze with a time of 10.61. It took a personal best time of 10.42s from Bolawinra's Jamaican rival Odane Skeen to beat him to the gold medal.

BMC and Cambridge Harriers Open
Cambridge Harriers Joe Durrant was one of the stars at a quality evening of athletics at a packed Sutcliffe Park as the Sydney Wodderson Memorial 800m was held in an action packed BMC and Club Open events.
Andrew Osagie of Harlow AC came away with all £400 of the prize money in the third running of the prestigious Sydney Wooderson 800m Memorial Challenge.
The race is held in memory of Blackheath’s Olympian, who broke the world record for the 800 meters in 1938 with a time of 1:48.4.
The prize money of £150 for first place and an additional £250 for the fastest finisher who can beat Wooderson world record time attracts a quality field of runners from across the country.
Osagie led the race for most of the way to finish in a time of 1 minute, 47.80 seconds. However, running on his home track, Joe Durrant stormed in to second place with 50 metres to go and had the kick to be the only other runner on the night to duck under Wodderson’s old world record in a personal best time of 1:48.37 in front of his home crowd. The result now ranks Durrant 15th in the country.

Clash of the Tritons
The Murphy family, John, Jo and Jack, took part in the Clash of the Tritons aquathlon last weekend.
From the 188 competitiors in the 500m swim/5km run event, John finished 134th, Jack 84th and Jo 122nd, despite swimming 22 instead of the 20 lengths! However Jo's mistake, caused by being fouled by a fellow competitor who knocked her timimg chip off, wasn't costly in her age category as Jo finished 3rd in the famale vets. John finished 18th in his age group while Jack was 39th in his category.

Amsterdam Marathon and races 2010
The trip is being organised by Nice Work on behalf of Cambridge Harriers.
It's never easy organising a meeting and over the years Dave Reader and Barry Ferguson have worked hard to make the BMC and Cambridge Harriers Open events a success, along with a band of volunteers from the club.
Therefore, it was a pleasure to recieve thanks from Phoenix AC for Wednesday's event:
Dear Cambridge Harriers and BMC,
I attended your meeting at Eltham last night with four athletes and we were all in agreement that we just wanted to say...good job!
That's the way to run a meeting...excellent timetabling that was stuck to ( and really well organised by one official )...clear announcements calling the runners up to races by name so that no one was milling around aimlessly ...easily accessible printed info and timetables...helpful and pleasant officials...electronic timing with good back up....and good class races that athletes wanted to do.
I've been to your meetings at Eltham before and this was the best. You nailed the organisation so well done and thank you.
Best Wishes,
Paul Collicutt
Chairman
Phoenix AC
Keep up the good work next year!
