CAMBRIDGE

chbage

Brian Nicholson was a long serving member of the club who passed away on 3rd October 2009. Brian was a long standing servant of the club, holding membership for over 60 years, having joined in November 1948.

Originally a competitor, including running a leg in the London – Brighton relay, he subsequently became one of the back room boys who we often take for granted. Always at the clubhouse every Wednesday night and at every Saturday event and Sunday morning run. Brian marked the route for the cross country in Joydens Wood, which he loved running around and became a warden for the Woodland Trust, who manage the woods.

Brian was also the secretary of the company that maintain and administer the clubhouse in Bexley and the many activities that take place there. As club membership secretary, the first point for many joining the club, and with our large membership, he had a monumental task, especially collecting the subs each year. In addition, he also dealt with the entries and results for the Wilmington 10k, bringing in vital revenue for the club.

Brian was ever present at the clubhouse and undertook so many different jobs, it’s been noticeable since his when jobs don’t get done! He had so many friends in the club and always a warm welcoming smile for everybody, he is sorely missed.
