C Rogers - Cambridge Harriers

Cambridge Harriers

Chris Rogers

  Date of birth: 17/06/1969
Date started running/competing:
1995

Competes in: Orienteering / Trail half-marathon / Fell-races

Short biog:
A long time climber and mountaineer, I'd also been running non-competeively for years as a means of keeping fit. In 2002 I broke a wrist and discovered Orienteering as a means of keeping active while away from climbing, which eventually developed into an obsession with Fell-running. This seems to best combine my interests of the mountains and wild places of Britain with running and navigating.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?
Jos Naylor and "Feet In The Clouds" by R Askwith

Personal bests (Event type, time/distance, location, date):
Brentwood Trail half-marathon: 01:51 (11th of 52)
Jon Clarke Memorial Fell Race A/S 00:32 (48th of 72)
Rydal Round Fell Race A/M 02:03 (84th of 109)
Rocahes Fell Race B/L 03:17 (156th of 205)

Favourite race and why:
Any fell race - I just love the atmosphere and running amongst Britain's most beautiful and wildest places.

Career ambition
Building up to the Borrowdale fell race and eventually some Ultras - maybe the Cumbrian Traverse and who knows - a Bob Graham Round...? Also doing the Brighton marathon in 2010, which should be interesting.
