It was an excellent turnout with runners from both Dartford clubs, Swanley, Plumstead and Invicta together with a big contingent from Bexley. It was probably the largest field that we have had in recent history, so thank you to everybody who took part.
Dean Lacy won for the fourth consecutive year but had some real competition from Andy Pickett and Mark Wilkins, especially as he had to make an unplanned stop for a call of nature!

A moment’s silence was held before today’s race in memory of Brian Nicholson. The close proximity of the first Club cross-country championship of the season to the passing away of Brian was especially poignant given both his active involvement in ensuring that these races were successful and his love for Joyden’s Wood.
When the race started a trio of Cambridge Harriers immediately pulled away from the rest of field and fought out the medal places. Eventually Mark Penny sprinted away to win in 31mins 28secs and recapture the title that he last won in 2006. In second place was Dave Reader, slowly getting his fitness back after injury, in a time of 32mins 7secs and third was marathon runner Clem Dixon in 32mins 37secs.
