February 21 2010 Summary - Cambridge Harriers

Cambridge Harriers

Sunday 21 February 2010

Lacy makes it a hat-trick of titles

He then cruised to the line and goes into next Saturday's National race in Leeds in great shape and full of confidence.

Behind Dean, Dave Reader had his best result of the season and was an impressive 22nd, Matt Winn-Smith continued his return to racing with 37th place (after a 50 mile cycle ride in the morning!) and Clem Dixon and Graham Maynard battled all the way before the former proved too strong for Graham.

All these good performances led to our highest position (3rd) in the this season's competition for the 4-to-score team race to finish fourth overall for the season.

The other competing Cambridge Harriers were Graham Maynard, 46th in 37:52, Mark Ashby (61) 38:59, Alex Hall (77) 40:34, Pat Austin (104) 46:55, Mike Simmonds (108) 47:38 and John Corcoran (110) 50:30.

The only female representative at Swanley was Jo Murphy, finishing in 35th in a time of 30:34. The senior women finish the season 8th from the 14 scoring teams.

Dean Lacy Kent 2010

Kent Cross Country League

Dean Lacy continued his superbform, adding to his Kent Championship title this weekend by taking the Men's individual Kent League title, winning the last race of the season at Swanley.

Leading the competition coming into this last race, Dean dictated the pace from the start until eventually only Andy Rayner from Blackheath could remain with him. On the last lap, Andy pushed on in an attempt to win the race but Dean was patient and when he made his own effort soon opened up a a large gap.

Club notices

Volunteers required - Sutcliffe Park catering

We are looking for a group of volunteers to help run the tea bar at Sutcliffe park.

You can volunteer for occasional cover or more regular if you are able - We need people to open the tea bar on Club nights (Tuesday and Thursday 6.30 - 8) and on event days.

As well as making for a more enjoyable club atmosphere the tea bar also makes a significant contribution to the club's running costs each year.
