Youth gain promotion as Harriers enjoy a swift half
20 June 2008
Cambridge Harriers will be promoted to the Premier Division of the UK Young Athletes league, after gaining second place at their final meeting.

Harriers aim for international success

Joe Durrant competed in Birmingham this weekend at the Olympic Qualifying Trials, while Curtis Griffith-Parker represented Britain at the World Youth Championships in Poland.

Athlete of the Month - June
7 June 2008
Congratulations to Joe Durrant and Charlotte Lucas who win the male and female Athlete of the Month award for June.
Joe acheived second place in the 800m at the National Championships in a time of 1:53.07. Joe will now attend the English Olympic Trials later this month.
Charlotte managed to break the club U17 ladies record in the pole vault at the UK Young Athletes League, clearing a hight of 2.20 meters.
In voting on this months Athlete of the Month, the Committee would like to also commend Francois Potgieter for his match winning efforts in the Men's Southern League in Devon, last week.

New to atletics, but already a record breaker!
Lacy makes milestone
Dean Lacy broke the 3:50 mark for the first time in the 1500m's at last nights BMC meeting in Watford.
He placed 5th and in the process smashed his previous personal best, set over 2 years ago, by 3.34 seconds when recording a time of 3:49:59.

Twelve Cambridgeites selected for Enlish Schools

Probably the biggest number of Cambridge Harriers athletes have been selected for the English Schools championships in Gateshead on July 11th and 12th. The following TWELVE members have been selected:
Under 15 Girls: Sally Duggan – Javelin, Cloe Garrett 75m Hurdles, Emily Nolan 800m.
Under 17 Girls: Jessica Clark 80m Hurdles, Anesa Wanogho Shot Putt
Under 19 Girls: Kate Laidlow 400m
Under 15 Boys: David Bolarinwa 100m, Donomar Smith 800m, Alex Smith 400m
Under 19 Boys:Craig Lacy Javelin, Stefan Mitchell 100m.
Also selected was Curits Griffith-Parker in the discus, but he will be unable to compete as the event clashes with the world Junior championships in Poland. Congratulations to all selected, we wish all club members the best of luck at this great event.
Curtis to represent country

Curtis Griffith Parker has been selected to represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland at the 12th IAAF World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Curtis will throw discus at the event to be held to be held on 8-13 July. Congratulations to Curtis, who has worked had for this acheivement. Read more on the UK Athletics website.
Harriers contribute to international victory
