Weather can't affect indoor champs
South of England Indoor Championships
Seven club members competed in the first day of the South of England Indoor Championships on Sunday at the Lee Valley Athelic centre in North London.
Melissa Owusu Ansah won her heat of the 300m in 42.09 only half of a second outside her outdoor best. In the semi final she ran even quicker with a time of 41.87 only to be disqualified for running outside her lane on the bend.
Gabriella Ade Onojobi won her heat in the Under 20 400 and then ran a pb of 60.49 in the semi final. In the final she ran equally well to take 4th place in 60.89
Caroline Ford took a break from winter training to run the Under 20 800m and took place 5th place in a time of 2.28.62
Kate Laidlow mirrored Gaby's finishing position in the senior 400m though was a second faster with 59.56 (59.15 in the heats)
Stephen Ball added another fourth place to the club's results but went home happy after knocking a second off his outdoor pb with a time of 2.18.22 in the Under 15 boys 800 final
Laura McPherson had her first race back after a bout of pleurisy earlier in the winter and ran a steady 2.39.62 for 5th place in the senior women's 800. Charlotte Hunt competed in the Under 17 girls pentathlon and with one event to go was lying in 11th place
