Harriers are pick of the crop

Dean Lacy and Claire Elms complete excellent wins in a good showing for Cambridge Harriers in the South of England Championships at Crystal Palace.
Meanwhile three Cambridge Harriers have been named in the British Masters team to compete next Saturday, several Harriers take part in the London Schools Championships while Les Pullen completes the Comrades ultra Marathon in Durban. Track & Field Season kicks in

The track & field season begins in ernest this weekend with the Kent Youth League on Sunday and Kent Veterans League on Monday evening, both at Sutcliffe Park.
If you can, give both meetings your support and we will provide results and reports from these events, as soon as we have them, next week.

Women on track to continue good form

Cambridge Harriers continued a week of good form on the track as the Women performed well in the Southern Womens League.

Athlete of the Month - April / Busy Weekend ahead

Rob Jackaman and Claire Gibson are confirmed as male and female Athlete of the Month for April 2008, thanks to their fantastic performances in the London Marathon.
Rob acheived a time of 2:46:00 in his very first marathon at London, while Claire retained the Athlete of the Month by knocking 36 minutes off of her best marathon time, acheiving a time of 2:50:30.
Congratulations to both Rob and Claire on their continuing acheivements and improvements.
Meanwhile, there is a busy weekend of athletics ahead with Cambridge Harriers taking part in six main events over five days.
The Vets continue their SCVAC League season at Deangate on Friday, while, the Senior Men kick off their Division One season in the Mens Southern League at Sutcliffe Park on Saturday from 12:15PM. The follwing day, the same venue hosts the UK Young Athletes League, while road runners have a choice of races on Bank Holiday Monday.

Successful weekend for Harriers

In a successful few days, there were victories for the Womans vets, the Senior Men in their first Division One match of the season in the Mens Southern League and for the youngsters in the UK Young Athletes League, while road runners gained wins and PB's at the Ted Pepper 10 on Monday.

Harriers retain titles

Cambridge Harriers continued from the bank holiday weekend success to retaining two titles in as many nights in glorious weather.
Dean Lacy (left) won the Kent County Athletics Assocition open 5000m meters, which he won last year, comfortably on Tuesday in a time of 14:55.0. Clare Elms gained the senior womens prize in a time of 17:06.3, while Steve Smythe took the M50 prize in 17:21.1. Full results can be found here.
On Wednesday night, Cambridge retained the mixed team prize at the Beckenham Road Relays. Performances from Rosa Sampson-Gerorski, Ashley Blackmore and Steve Brown ensured the victory on the 2.6 mile course.
Finally, there was a good turnout at the club open trials at Sutcliffe Park on Wednesday. Results can be downloaded here. Many thanks to all those who helped out to make the trials a success.
Beckenham apologise over results mix up

Beckenham Running Club have issued an apology after a mix up in results means that Crystal Palace Tri won the mixed catagory at Wednesdays Road Relay and not Cambridge Harriers.
Crystal Palace were incorrectly filed in the wrong team catagory, which means they finished ahead of Cambridge. Click here for final results.
Harriers hot for massive medal haul

Over 50 club Cambridge Harriers entered the annual County Track Championships at Ashford in the heat this weekend and between them they came away with a record 35 medals.

Rampant Cambridge go top - twice!

Cambridge Harriers have yet another successful weekend as the Senior Men won their second fixture in the Southrn Mens League and the youngsters won again in the National Young Athletes League.
The victories put both teams top of their respective leagues.

Cambridge Harriers youngsters remain top after seeing off competition from local rivals Bexley in the Young Athletes League while the women had a close run match in the Womens Southrn League.

Athlete of the Month - May

Congratulations to youngsters David Bolarinwa and Daryl Neita on winning the male and female Athlete of the Month award for May.
Both sprinters acheived fantastic times during May to earn their awards. David ran 100m at the UK Young Athletes League at Sutcliffe Park in a time of 11.1 seconds. This impressive time for the U15 sprinter keeps him top of the UK U15 rankings.
Not to be outdone by David's acheivement, Daryl broke the U13 girls club record at the same event in the 75 meters, winning her event in 10.1 seconds.
Congratulations to you both. Let's hope these performances continue long in to the future.
Harriers are a hit in the heat

A busy weekend saw Cambridge Harriers win the mens team prize for the fith year in a row at the Eltham Park 5 mile, second place spots in the Southern Mens League and Kent Young Athletes League as well as some comebacks for injured athletes and good representation at the Harvel 5 and Southend Half Marathon.
