Training

Several training groups for road running meet regularly at Sutcliffe Park Track, Eltham and at the Clubhouse in Bexley.

Sutcliffe Park Track - Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 1800.
Track sessions tailored to distance running with long track repitition track work. Warm-up on park paths.

Clubhouse - Wednesday and Friday evenings from 1900.

Road training in winter and off-road in summer, including repetition speed sessions and steady runs up to 10 miles. Friday evenings at 1900 for hill sessions or steady runs (group often meets at Shoreham Village in Kent during the summer months).

Sunday at 0800 for hardy runners wanting steady long runs (up to 3 hours during winter preparation for the London Marathon).

Club Road Running Championships & Trophies

10km – The 2010 race to be held in in conjunction with the `Ted Pepper` 10km race at Beckenham in May 2010. Medals awarded for Senior Men and Senior Ladies.

10 Miles - to be held in conjunction with the Sidcup 10 miles (organised by Kent AC) in February 2010. The D.G. Dellar Trophy (first awarded in 1970) is awarded to the first club runner. Medals awarded for Senior Men and Senior Ladies. Current holder is Rob Jackaman.

Half Marathon - to be held in conjunction with the Paddock Wood Half Marathon in March 2010. The Vice-Presidents Cup (first awarded in 1961). Medals awarded for Senior Men and Senior Ladies. Current holder is Rob Jackaman.

20 Miles - to be held in conjunction with the Kent Championship. The Andy Ducker Trophy (first awarded in 1958) is awarded to the first club runner. Medals awarded for Senior Men and Senior Ladies.

Marathon - the Bill Fisher Memorial Cup (first awarded in 1994) is awarded to the club athlete (male or female) with the most improved London Marathon time. Current holder is Jo Winn-Smith. The Marlow Hadler Rose Bowl (first awarded in 2007) is awarded to the best peformance in the calender year for Senior Women club members. Current holder is Claire Gibson.

Club Organised Events
Cambridge Harriers is committed to support the development of local athletics in Greenwich and Bexley and promotes a number of popular local races.

Greenwich Meridian 10km - held in early March around the Royal Park of Greenwich. A popular traffic free road race with over 500 runners in 2004.

Road Relays - held in early September at Sutcliffe Park Track, Eltham. Four relay legs of approx 2.7 miles around the flat and fast park boundary, starting and finishing on the track.

Midsummer 10km Trail Race - held over an off-road course through Joydens Wood in Bexley, close to mid-summers day in June.

Wilmington 10km - popular road race held in late October around Wilmington, Hextable and Swanley. Jointly organised by Cambridge Harriers, the club provides race officials and course marking.

Christmas Handicap - evening club race held in December over 3.2 mile course in Bexley. Handicap race (slowest runners off first) with some runners wearing fancy dress. Free buffet and prize draw with race entry.
