Harriers hot for massive medal haul

Over 50 club Cambridge Harriers entered the annual County Track Championships at Ashford in the heat this weekend and between them they came away with a record 35 medals
Best performance of the weekend came from Woolwich Poly school boy David Bolarinwa who smashed not only the club record for 100metres he set the week before but also the Championship best performance. His time of 11.24 now ranks him Number 1 in the UK for his age group and marks him down as one of the favourite for the national Championship to be held latter in the season.
David wasn’t the only club member to shine as the medal count grew over eh weekend. Curtis Griffiths parker now throwing as an Under 20 took both the shot and Discus titles with throws of 17.32 and 54.87 respectively, a Champaionship best throw in the discuss, of which he is rightfully proud. respectfully whilst Kate Laidlow also did a double winning both the under 20 women’s 200 and 400metres.
Sixteen year old Craig Lacy got close again to the 50 metre mark in the Javelin taking gold with a throw of 49.60 metres in the under 20 age group whilst at the other end of the spectrum forty eight year old Andy Kruszewkski took his eighth senior men’s Discuss competition with a throw of 43.89 in the final round. Craig wasn’t eh only Javelin star to shine however with Sally Duggan taking the under 15 girl’s title with a throw of 34.59 which would have ranked her in the UK last year
Dean Lacy the club’s prodigious middle and long distance star added to the 5000m title he won at Tonbridge on Monday night with a run away win in the 1500 with a time of 3.54.88. Another key member of the club’s senior men’s team Francois Potgeiter took the 110m Hurdles with a time of 14.73. Not to be outshone by the men the senior women also took two titles. Xanine Powell who stormed away from the filed to win the 100m in 12.18 and Clare Elms who won the 5000m on Monday night.
