Southern Counties AC Veterans League

Cambridge Harriers women's team scored an excellant 2nd place in the first Kent Veterans match of the season. Competion on the club's home track at Sutcliffe Park in Eltham helped the team notch up a number of notable performances.

The best performance of the night was from star vet, Clare Elms, who lapped other runners in the W35's 1500m.

With Andera Pickup taking first place for the `B' string run and Ros Tabor's first place in the women's 50 age group, and Pauline Rook filling the team for the W60's, it was a good night for middle distance running.

Nicola 5 - Canvey Island

Martin Hawkins gained 28th in the Nicola's 5 on Sunday, 4th over all in the M40, with a time of 30.55. Martin did proclaim after the race that it is probably not a great idea to run a race a week after a marathon! Despite this proclamation on Sunday, Martin then ran the 1500m in the vets league on Monday as well as a track session of 10 x 500on Tuesday. "So now it's time to rest and drink!" stated a tired Martin on Wednesday morning!
